MR. Greg Rose
Gregory Rose is entering his 37th year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 2000. Before teaching in Nederland, he taught in Nacogdoches, New Diana, and Pittsburg, TX.
He graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Texas and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mr. Rose is the head high school band director and also serves at the fine arts administrator for the district. He teaches the Nederland High School Honors Band, the NHS Marching Band, "The Golden Pride of the Golden Triangle," and oversees all other band classes in Nederland ISD.
Mr. Rose's bands have consistently received U.I.L. Sweepstakes Awards in marching along with Concert and Sight-Reading contests. Mr. Rose is an active adjudicator and clinician throughout the state and also mentors student teachers who are pursuing an education degree. He was named the Phi Beta Mu "Young Bandmaster of the Year" in 1992 and was also chosen as a nominee for "Who's Who in American High School Teachers" in 1998 and 2000. Mr. Rose served as the TMEA Region X President from 2009-2020 and was named Nederland High School "Teacher of the Year" in 2016. Under Mr. Rose's direction, the Nederland High School Honors Band has been named the TMEA Region 10 class 5A Honor Band in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019. The NHS Honors Band has also been named TMEA class 5A State Honor Band Finalists in 2007, 2015, 2017, and 2019, with a sixth place finish in 2007.
Mr. Rose has professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, National Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity.
Mr. Rose lives in Nederland with his wife, Weena, who is the music teacher at Helena Park Elementary School. He has a son, Eric, who is also a band director in Nederland, and a daughter, Amber, who is a research technician in Chicago, Illinois. On his free time, Mr. Rose enjoys attending Houston Texans games with his son, Eric, and traveling with his wife.
Mr. Gary Janecek
Gary Janecek is entering his 27th year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 1995.
He graduated from West Brook High School in Beaumont and went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he studied under Dr. Barry Johnson.
Mr. Janecek has the unique opportunity to teach classes at three different campuses in Nederland ISD: Central Middle School, C.O. Wilson Middle School, and Nederland High School. At both middle school campuses, Mr. Janecek teaches the beginner woodwind class (flute, clarinet, and saxophone) and also helps teach many students in the Honors Band. At Nederland High School, he conducts the Symphonic Band and the NHS Marching Band, "The Golden Pride of the Golden Triangle."
Mr. Janecek's middle school and high school bands have consistently received U.I.L. Sweepstakes ratings, and he has had the privilege of starting and teaching many musicians who have gone on to be named TMEA All State Band or Orchestra members.
Mr. Janecek has professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Mr. Janecek lives in Beaumont with his son, Kellen. He is an active performer and plays saxophone at various venues across the area. On the weekends and in the summer, he enjoys attending sporting events and coaching his son's various teams.
Mr. Justin Collazo
Justin Collazo is entering his 20th year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 2008. Prior to teaching in Nederland he spent 6 years teaching in Lumberton ISD.
He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he studied under Dr. Barry Johnson and Scott Weiss.
Mr. Collazo is an assistant at Nederland High School and teaches beginner percussion at both middle school campuses. At the High School he teaches Jazz Band, Concert Band A and B, and assists with the Marching Band.
Mr. Collazo's middle school bands have consistently received U.I.L. Sweepstakes ratings. In the 2014-15 school year he was named the C.O. Wilson Middle School teacher of the year.
Mr. Collazo lives in Port Neches with his lovely wife Amy and daughter Marlee. He has also been a member of the percussion section for the Symphony of Southeast Texas since 2001.
