Other announcements & Volunteers needed:

Evans Band Concert – Tuesday, May 14th

• Need another parent to assist with a small meet & greet at Evans, Lisa Colomb offered her assistance
• Simple – cookies & punch
• Rising seniors can assist
• I will create & provide an invitation handout

Band Awards Night & Reception – May 20th

• Need a volunteer or 2 to coordinate this event.
• Send out requests for finger foods & desserts
• Set-up main cafeteria
• Tablecloths (food tables only)
• Plates/plastic ware/napkins/cups
• Prepare beverages (usually simple water & tea)

Graduation Water Sales – Thursday, May 23rd – 5:00 pm until graduation begins

• Scott Colomb will coordinate sales around the stadium (home & visitors)
• We need volunteers to help load coolers with water and ice starting around 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. and also to sell water until the ceremony starts (7:30 p.m.)
• We may need more water donations (will need to count the # of cases in the band room.

 Band Camp week – June 9th – 14th

This is the same system that is used for the NHS band notifications as well as SRMS band and several teachers and organizations throughout the county.  We will use it for event/meeting reminders, volunteer requests, donation needs etc.

We will be voting on officers for next years and we really need YOUR help to finalize plans for the spring car show.

Meetings are held monthly and general job descriptions are available upon request. All offices are for one year terms with the possibility of being reelected for a second year. If you nominate someone other than yourself, please be sure they will agree to run for office. Please include contact information for the person you nominate.

There are some items we are needing for the “Kids Corner” area of the Car Show. Please contact Jennifer Harmon at 4harmons@bellsouth.net if you have items for donation or use.

Cotton candy machine (rental free) and floss if possible-
An adult will be responsible for operating and maintaining the machine, no students will be allowed to operate. If you have one or know someone who has one that we can borrow for the car show it will be greatly appreciated.

NHS Band Boosters

The main topic of discussion in February will be our spring event, the 6th Annual Cruisin for the Cats Car Show.  This year’s event, bigger and better than ever, is currently in the planning stages and led by a great team of parents including Reggie and Suzanne Lybrand, Christal and Jimmy Brown, Scott Colomb, and Kathy White.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your warm southern hospitality this past weekend.  From the moment we drove onto the Newnan High School Campus, we were treated warmly and with a sense of care and concern for our well-being.

My students and parents have remarked to me (we had a LONG bus ride home to talk!) about the organization and efficiency with which your competition operated, and the willingness of your people to assist with whatever your visitors needed.  Unfortunately, that hospitality is not often the norm at Kentucky contests.

Further, I wanted to commend you on an outstanding performance on Saturday evening.  Having run a competition before, I know what a long and tiring day you put in before the show, and I felt that even though you MUST be tired, you did an outstanding show.

We all fell in love with your town, your school, and you – We are considering making this competition an annual tradition to end our marching season.

If each of you could send in another case or two it would be VERY helpful.  Also, if you hear of a sale on drinks at your favorite store, please send us an email and we will spread the word so that others may capitalize on savings as well.

This is a new policy and includes all new volunteers AS WELL AS anyone who has volunteered (ever) and wants to continue working with students!  This includes any person who helps out in almost any capacity with the band …. at football games, riding buses, Saturday practices, competitions, special trips, etc.

The NHS Band Booster Club is kicking off one of our Fundraisers in August, which is actually no additional out-of-pocket cost to you.

For new or current BJs Wholesale Club Members you can enroll for an extended period (15-months) and two household cards at a reduced rate and BJs will donate $5 per completed application back to the NHS Band/Color Guard Boosters’ General Fund.

For current members you can renew now and the new time will be added at the end of your current commitment. (For instance if your current expiration is January 2013, your new commitment will begin February 2013 for 15 months.)

Thank you for all you do to support or Band and Color Guard programs.
