Josh Roberts

Josh Roberts has taught for six years, four as Associate Director of Bands at Newnan High School.  He is also the director of the Percussion Department which is very active throughout the year.  While at Newnan High, groups under Mr. Roberts’ direction consistently receive Superior ratings.  He is Conductor of the Concert Band, Associate Conductor of the Advanced Symphonic Band, and Associate Marching Band Director.  In addition, he directs one of Newnan’s Jazz bands, two Percussion ensembles, and arranges percussion for the Marching Band.  Mr. Roberts also assists at Smokey Road Middle School and Evans Middle School.

Mr. Roberts received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Georgia Southern University in 2004.  While there, he studied conducting under Dr. Daniel Pittman and percussion with Dr. Matt Fallin.  During his time at Georgia Southern, Mr. Roberts was a member of the Southern Pride Marching Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and the Hoop Troop Basketball Pep Band.  Mr. Roberts received his Masters of Education degree from Columbus State University in 2010 and is currently working on his Doctorate of Music Education from the University of Georgia.  He holds professional affiliations with the Georgia Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Percussive Arts Society, National Band Association, and the Vic Firth Educational Team.  Mr. Roberts is also an active adjudicator and clinician within the states of Georgia and South Carolina.  Mr. Roberts regularly performs as a percussionist and has played with the LaGrange Symphony, the Cobb Wind Symphony, and various other groups and ensembles.

Mr. Roberts and his wife, Carrie, reside in Newnan, Georgia with their daughter Isabelle Caroline.  Carrie is also a music educator having taught music for six years at Kemp Primary School in Hampton, Georgia.  In his spare time Josh loves to travel and spend time outdoors.
